Erbil, the capital of South Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan) is over 8,000 years old, it is one of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in the world. Resting resolutely in the center of the city is the Old City, the famous Citadel of Erbil, an ancient city that is now an important archeological treasure of the world.
The city of Erbil has been under the rule of many regional powers in turn, including the Babylonians, the Medes, the Persians and Greeks. Following the Arab Islamic conquest of Mesopotamia, and during medieval times the city came to be ruled by the Seljuk and Ottomans.
The modern city of Erbil, despite having endured much upheaval during the last few decades of Iraqi history, has been transformed within the previous decade into a thriving, cosmopolitan center, boasting tens of modern shopping malls and centers, hundreds of lush parks, high-rise offices and business centers, modern transportation infrastructure and a new international airport. This conference will provide visitors with a view of "The Other Iraq" the newest democratic model in the Middle East, demonstrating how, with the help of democracy, a modern capital city has been built from a sprawling village in less than ten years.
The institution that became Salahaddin University-Erbil was founded in 1968 in Sulaimani. In 1981, the university was moved to Erbil and the name was changed to Salahaddin University-Erbil.
Salahaddin University-Erbil is the oldest and largest public comprehensive university in Kurdistan region. It is the educational home to more than 26,000 undergraduates and more than 900 graduate students. Salahaddin University-Erbil offers more than 86 undergraduate majors and award degrees at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels. The programs include: Engineering, Science, law & Politics, Agriculture, Business & Administration, Physical Education, Art and Sociology, Fine Arts, Languages, Religion, and Teaching methods. Salahaddin University-Erbil has more than 2500 academic staff and 4,000 employees in administration and professional staff.
The instructional, research, and service missions of the University reflect the needs of the respective geographic areas. The University also serves state wide, national, and international needs by offering consultancy, educational and research activities in communities throughout the state and through research and training exchanges and world-wide partnership programs. In this way, Salahaddin University-Erbil has enriched the cultural, political, and industrial sectors of Kurdistan for four decades, playing a major role in the advancement of Kurdish society.
We are pleased to announce the 2016 International Conference on Engineering and Innovative Technology (SU-ICEIT2016), which will be hosted by Engineering College at Salahaddin University-Erbil, Kurdistan Region on April 12-14, 2016.
SU-ICEIT is a biennial conference focusing on advances in innovative engineering, and technological applications. The mission of this conference is to provide a high-level international platform for the field of Engineering and Technology. SU-ICEIT attracts a diverse, multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers from around the world and provides a venue for reporting and observing the current state of the art and research results in these fields. The conference provides a welcome environment for a mixture of academic, government and industrial researchers, managers, and policy makers. The conference will be an opportunity for collaboration and networking between Middle Eastern and international engineers, scientists, businessmen and intellectuals, providing opportunities to build relationships that will accommodate joint cooperation for future ventures.
